PAK vs SA: Mickey Arthur asks PCB to avoid ‘witch-hunts’ as Pakistan loose another one.

PAK vs SA: Mickey Arthur has pleaded with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to avoid “witch-hunts” as the national team’s challenge at the T20 World Cup falters.

Pakistan suffered a humiliating defeat to Zimbabwe in their second match of the tournament, and Arthur admitted that the team was “under pressure” to deliver results.

However, he warned against any knee-jerk reactions from the PCB, and urged the board to show faith in the team.

“I think it’s important to avoid witch-hunts,” Arthur said. “We need to stick together as a team and as a board, and work through this together.

“We’re under pressure, but we’re still alive in the tournament. We need to believe in ourselves, and we need to keep fighting.”

Arthur’s comments come amid reports that the PCB is considering making changes to the team’s management following the defeat to Zimbabwe. However, Arthur insisted that the team was united, and that he had the full support of the players.

“I’ve spoken to the players, and they’re all behind me,” Arthur said. “We’re all committed to turning things around.

“We know that we’re not playing our best cricket at the moment, but we’re determined to put things right. We have a lot of talent in this team, and we’re confident that we can still make a challenge in this tournament.”

Pakistan face a must-win match against the Netherlands on Sunday, and Arthur knows that his team needs to deliver.

“We’re under no illusions about the importance of the next game,” Arthur said. “We need to win, and we need to win convincingly.

“We’re a team that’s capable of beating anyone in the world, but we need to show it on the pitch. We need to be more ruthless, and we need to take our chances.

“I believe in this team, and I’m confident that we can still make a challenge in this tournament.”
