Riyan Parag Blasts into the Record Books with a 56-Ball Century in Ranji Trophy

Riyan Parag, the Assam captain and rising star of Indian cricket, etched his name in the record books with a sensational performance in the ongoing Ranji Trophy. On Day 4 of their Group B clash against Chhattisgarh, Parag smashed a belligerent 155 off just 87 balls, including a record-breaking 56-ball century – the second-fastest in the history of the prestigious tournament.

Parag’s innings was a display of brute power and clean hitting. He launched into the Chhattisgarh bowlers from the outset, clearing the ropes a staggering 12 times and finding the boundary with 11 fours as well. His strike rate of 178.16 was a testament to his aggressive intent, leaving the opposition bowlers shell-shocked.

While Parag’s heroics were the highlight of the Assam innings, unfortunately, they ended up on the losing side. Despite his contribution, which accounted for over 50% of Assam’s total of 254, Chhattisgarh chased down the target comfortably in just 20 overs, winning the match by 10 wickets.

Despite the defeat, Parag’s individual brilliance couldn’t be overshadowed. His 56-ball century is now the second-fastest in Ranji Trophy history, only behind Rishabh Pant’s 48-ball ton in 2016. He also joined an elite club of batsmen to have scored a century before lunch on the fourth day of a Ranji Trophy match.
