Top Five Unbeatable Records that Prove RCB deserves an IPL Trophy!
Royal Challengers Bangalore yet again has managed to fall to their knees right before the finish line in the latest Cricket season of TATA IPL 2022. They lost to Rajasthan Royals in the 2nd Qualifier of the series. Based on the teams performance it could be speculated that the change in Captaincy did very little in favor of their chances to take home the trophy which has been long over due.
Not unlike the other Leading Gaints in the Tournament, RCB has always been in the lime light when it comes to having a Team lineup filled with one of the biggest names in Cricket. Maybe thats one of the reasons they continue to get bombarded with Fan Loyalty no matter where they land on the Table everytime the curtain closes.
One other reason for the same could be the cosmic level of records RCB seems to own, which certainly gives their Fans some solace in having bragging rights when it come to it. Here are the Top 5 Records held by the Team:
1. Most Matches for a Single team:
Starting with the Face of RCB, Virat Kohli has played the most amount of matches for one Team i.e.. 223. Not to mention he has played every Season of IPL for a single Team and he is the only player to do that. He is followed by none other than MS Dhoni who has played 204 matches for CSK. Although we have to keep in mind that Dhoni Played for Pune for 2 years on the account of CSK being Suspended from IPL during that time.
2. Highest Team Total
During a 2013 IPL match against Pune Warriors, RCB scored the highest Total ever in IPl of 263/5 and sent the opponents into oblivion by restricting them at 133, all but all-out. Chris Gayle was the mammoth scoring a 175 off 66 balls. Not to mention AB de Villiers with a special appearance scoring 31 off 8 balls. Needless to say that highscore record still remains to be broken by any other team in the last 9 years and not to mention Gayle’s 175 run knock is still the highest individual score in IPL so far.
3. Highest Partnership
As any RCB fan recuperating from an endless stream off disappointments in winning the trophy will remind you, 2016 IPL belonged to Virat Kohli. He scored a staggering 973 runs in a whole season, including 4 centuries. During an RCB’s game against Gujarat Lions (GL), Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers stitched a partnership of 229 runs for the second wicket, which is the highest partnership in the history of the league. Not to mention its the second highest Partnership overall. Kohli scored 109 off 55 while ABD tore apart the GL bowling with a blazing 129 off just 52. The pair helped RCB post a daunting 248-3. GL had no answers to RCB’s onslaught and were bowled out for 104 in the chase, losing the game by 144 runs.
4. Most Centuries By A Team
A team owning a record of 15 Centuries is one of the records that might take a really long time to beat. Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle, the two monsters of the game each own 5 Centuries each, followed by AB de Villiers with 2 Centuries, and barely missing the mark quite a few times. And lastly Manish Pandey, Devdutt Padikkal, and Rajat Patidar each have crossed the three-figure mark once.
5. Most Sixes in an innings (17)
In the same match where RCB has a record of scoring the highest total in the tournament. Chris Gayle turned on his beast mode against PWI bowlers and hammered a breathtaking 175 off 66 balls. He hit 17 sixes in his innings and became the proud owner of this rare record, which will take some effort to break past. Gayle scored 154 out of 175 runs from the boundaries itself. Exceptional, to say the least.
