Naveen Malik is an Indian freestyle wrestler. He is from pugthala village in Sonipat district of Haryana. He participated in the 2022 Commonwealth Games, winning the gold medal in the men’s freestyle 74 kg. He defeated Muhammad Tahir who was awarded the silver medal in the final match for which the score was 9-0.

His trend towards wrestling increased by learning from his elder brother, Naveen’s elder brother Praveen is also a wrestler.
By 2016, the two brothers trained under Sonepat coach Balwan Singh. In 2016, his elder brother Praveen was selected in the Navy. After this, along with Praveen, Naveen also started training with the Navy team. During this time, He won gold in several national level competitions and Asian Wrestling Championships. Recently, Naveen won gold medal in the men’s freestyle 74 kg in commonwealth games 2022.
Naveen started fighting at the age of 4
Dharmapala Malik of Pugathala was fond of wrestling. Both his sons started to burn them at a young age. With the help of the villagers of the village, Dharampal built an arena in the village. Naveen Malik wore a nappy only at the age of 3 years. His elder brother Praveen was then 9 years old. Father tells that Naveen started fighting at the age of 4.

Naveen gave trials in the 74 category before the Commonwealth Games after winning junior gold, gold in under-23, silver in Mongolia. He won gold and got a Commonwealth ticket. In his very first Commonwealth game, Naveen raised the flag by taking gold.
