List of India & Pakistan players in Afro-Asia Cup 2023
The top players from the Indian and Pakistan cricket teams might team up next year in the Afro-Asia Cup. The tournament is likely to be played in the middle of 2023. The previous edition of the tournament was held in 2007. The likes of Virender Sehwag, Sourav Ganguly and other marquee Indian cricketers took part in the tournament.

According to a report from Forbes.com, players from both teams will team up in mid-2023. The report adds that the tournament will be played in a T20 format. Nothing is confirmed as of yet and fans will have to wait a few months for an official update.
“We still don’t have confirmation from the boards. We are still working on the white paper and it will be sent to both boards. But our plan is for the best players from India and Pakistan to play in the Asian XI. Once the plans are finalized, we will go to the market looking for sponsorship and a station. It will be a massive event. Really, really big,” ACC Events and Business Director Prabhakaran Thanraj was quoted as saying by Forbes.com.

India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral series since 2012-13 due to the political issues between the countries. The last time the two nations met was in the 2021 T20 World Cup where the Men in Green thrashed India by ten wickets. The Afro-Asia Cup will feature one side with top players from the Asian continent while the opponents will have players from the African continent.

The previous edition of the tournament was played in 2007. Back then, MS Dhoni, Sourav Ganguly, Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan and Virender Sehwag were among the players who participated in the tournament. Some players from Pakistan were also part of the tournament along with players from Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
India and Pakistan now only meet in ICC events and Asian Cups. The two teams last met at the 2021 T20 World Cup. They have not played a bilateral series since 2012/13. A decade ago, Pakistan had landed in India for a white ball series. India and Pakistan last played a test match in 2007. The Men in Blue and the Men in Green are scheduled to meet in the league stage of the T20 World Cup 2022 on October 23.
