Eldhose Paul (born 7 November 1996) is an Indian athlete who competes in triple jump. In 2022, he became the first Indian to qualify for the final of the triple jump at the World Athletics Championships.

Recently, He made history at Commonwealth Games 2022 by being the first Indian to win a Gold medal in triple jump.


Eldhose Paul is an Indian triple jump athlete from Kerala. He is 25 years old and at peak of his career. His performances at various domestic events in 2022 have established him among the top Indian track athletes and made him a strong medal contender for the upcoming Commonwealth Games and Asian Games. No doubt the whole nation will be cheering for him at those events.

Early Life

Eldhose Paul was born on the 7th November 1996 in a district called Ernakulam in Kerala. Eldhose never thought that he would be an athlete until he joined MA College in Kothamangalam which is considered the nursery for emerging young athletes. It is here he decided to take the plunge into athletics. He started participating in athletic meets and never looked back.

Eldhose Paul credits his rise to his coach TP Ouseph. He also tried other athletics disciplines such as pole vault and cross country running before finding his home in the triple jump discipline.

Professional Life

Eldhose has a lot to be proud of in his short career. He has performed strongly in various domestic and international tournaments. He always hopes to do well in big events. He won a Gold medal at Indian Grand Prix 1, Patiala in 2021 with the jump of 16.56m. he continued his winning streak in 2021 by winning yet another gold at the National Inter State Senior Athletics Championships in Patiala.

He started the year 2022 by winning the gold medal at the Indian Grand Prix, Thiruvanthapuram by jumping a commendable distance of 16.95m. Eldhose carry that excellent form in the National Federation Cup, where he recorded the distance of 16.99m to take home the gold. It was also his personal best career jump.

Indian Triple Jumper Eldhose Paul created history as he became the first Indian athlete to qualify for the finals in the World Athletics Championships 2022. Eldhose Paul who was placed in Group A made a personal best jump of 16.99 at the Federation Cup and finished at 12th place to confirm his berth for the 12-man finals.

Commonwealth Game 2022

Eldhose Paul led India’s historic 1-2 finish in men’s triple jump at the Commonwealth Games as he won a rare gold medal in track and field events. Paul produced his best effort of 17.03m in his third attempt while Aboobacker was not behind much as he finished at 17.02m, which he managed in his fifth attempt.
